Gwendel Carlton Conner (Gwen), 79 of Clarksville, TN, went to the Lord on Sunday, March 17, 2024, in Clarksville TN. Born August 12, 1944, in Thomaston, GA, to Otis and Zula Conner. He was retired from the United States Army, where he served 23 years and held the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 2 with the Military Intelligence Corps. Some of his key assignments included: Vietnam, Korea, Berlin Brigade, and Fort Campbell, Kentucky with the 101st AB Division (AA). He was awarded two Bronze Star Medals for meritorious service in combat during his tours in Vietnam. Gwen will be remembered as a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather. He was especially proud of his Grandchildren. Gwen is survived by Peggy Conner, his wife of 47 years; daughters: Karen (Jeff) Peltier and Kim (Tim) Correa, sons: Tom (Beth) and Jon (Alicia) Washer; Grandchildren: Grace (Ben) Pitts, Thomas (Denise) Washer, Kaitlyn Peltier, Conner Washer, Graham Cizek, Khloe Peltier, Sara DiFrancesco, Alicia Washer, Christina Washer and 5 Great Grand Children. Gwen was a proud and active member of his community, serving as an elder, choir member and an adult Sunday School Teacher for the Bethel Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of the Lions Club and an avid supporter of Austin Peay State University Athletics for many years. He was buried with full Military Honors.
